Dosing pumps are made of plastic, thermoplastic or even stainless steel. They are available in single and double diaphragm models and can move substances vertically or horizontally depending on the requirement. They are very easy to handle and the smaller ones are portable and can be moved around easily. They are also available in both plug in as well as battery operated models. Some come with an attached filter inside that separates large particles from the water like
floating food and other impurities.

Two of the most commonly used dosing pumps are Bubble Magus dosing pumps and the Drew’s Doser peristaltic dosing pumps. The former is an automatic pump that can be set to add accurate amounts of agents that are essential for the fish and the plants in the aquarium. A Bubble Magus dosing pump can be set to have around 24 cycles in a day. The second type is also automatic and works in similar fashion. One advantage it has over the Bubble Magus is that it is virtually noiseless. Apart from the Drew’s Doser model there is another type of peristaltic pump which is called the LiterMeter 3 peristaltic dosing pump. This one is meant for large aquariums and can pump up to 60 feet vertically.

The three types that have been listed above are just the common dosing pumps that are available in the market. You can browse through the various brands of dosing pumps at various price points available at Home Fish Aquariums and choose whichever is best suited to your requirements.
