Glass Aquariums

Fish can be kept either in a fish bowl or an aquarium. An aquarium is more convenient and easier to maintain than a fish bowl. Glass aquariums usually come in rectangular or hexagonal shapes. There are aquariums made of acrylic plastic as well but these are more expensive. They come in a variety of shapes and are usually unbreakable.

Aquariums can range from 5 gallon ones to 50 gallon ones. There are smaller ones available are not adivsable both for fishes as well as maintenance purposes. A 10-12 gallon aquarium is an ideal size. It is not too big and does not take up too much space in the room and at the same time has enough space for the fish to move around freely. There is also room for the filters and fish tank decor.

Aquariums tend to be quite heavy and should be placed on a flat surface, especially for glass aquariums, to prevent cracking. There are stands specifically meant for aquariums available in wood and steel. One should make sure that the aquarium slots into the stand perfectly so that it does not slide off. Fish especially the small ones are likely to jump off if water in the tank is too full or if the tank is too small. An aquarium cover or a hood is an ideal solution. It also prevents evaporation and keeps dust particles from falling into the tank and keeps away birds or animals that may stray near the tank. Some fish tank hoods come with a small opening that helps you feed the fish without having to lift the cover.

Keeping in mind the size and number of fish that you plan to keep and also the space available, you can select an appropriate aquarium. Home Fish Aquariums stocks an extensive variety of glass aquariums in various shapes and sizes. Take a look and make your pick!
